michaltimko
Hi blokes...i`ve a lil problem with scene i need to have rendered. It`s simple interior with some glossy surfaces and 3 vraylights. Calculated rendertime for this scene is 38 hours (???) Image u can grab from link was rendered in 8 hours and there was a 60% of unrendered space. Dunno what i have wrong but any tips are welcomed. Also i have problem with that "dark" shadows near fireplace which looks like smoke Is possible to have better or same quality in lowe rendertime (4-6hrs?). There is still little amout of noise and bad AA..how to reduce ? I was tweaking few hours but now i need help btw, im using lfw... Original render: img64.imageshack.us/img64/1807/ukazkacopy.jpg wire : img43.imageshack.us/img43/9066/wirefd.jpg My render settings: img710.imageshack.us/img710/6254/settingsao.jpg All lights have standard settings. One thing i changed was subdivs from 8 to 32. Camera settings : f number 8, shutter speed 2, iso
kippu
if you have read all the tutorials / guides , then you would instantly found out that a) greater the subdivs = more time b)you are using a lot more values than what is called for c) the noise is created to global subdivs d) you dont really need detail enhancement this image can be rendered less than a hour
michaltimko
tried a lot of tweaks but i cant go under 18 hours
Tommy Burns
Start again at base level and as you up the settings notice the diff in render times. That way you get to know what does what and how it affects render times. You will learn a lot in the time that it is taking to render now. Jonathan Sanchez
If you are using an illegal downloaded version of vray sp3 then you will have long render times. The copy protection Chaos Group incorporated into this new version causes illegal users to experience very long render times along with watermarks, and exposure differences. Geez, does that make me smile.

Jonathan Sanchez
unfortunately its not true! as far as i know.... It is true my friends.. Hackers have not been able to provide a crack that will overcome the lock for the sp3 version of vray. Its funny, not only is the render time huge, but the image randomly changes exposure on each render without user control. Just do an online search about it and you'll see more. antigonikost
Hello, I'm new user to 3ds max and Vray (i'm using max 2010 and vray 1.5) i have a project and i want to do render 8 images in 7 days and i'm still rendering the first. I've already done my scene and i put all the materials. It goes very slowly and the prob is that the project is an internet cafe and i have many many models of pc,keyboards wood textures etc. Can anybody help me to configure my render setup to go fast but with a good quality? And a good advice about the configuration of the Vray lights pls. Thanks!!
