Andrew1
Hi all, Just got a kind of max related question, I just got a really cool cordless mouse, paid over $100 for it..., the mouse is awesome ,works like a charm with all my programs and games, however in 3ds max it kind of bites !!!!, the problem is the middle scroll wheel has a double click function , its a real pain when you model and wanna shift the screen or turn around space using ALT+middle mouse button, it seldom works what really pisses me off, anyone on here operates with the same mouse ??/, any tips how I can make it work??, I assigned the middle click to another button on the mouse as it comes with 11 buttons , but I am so used to the middle button that it really impares my operations... MX 1100 cordless laser mouse, any help guys, thanks, cheers !
BrianKitts
yup.... that upset me to no end for a few days when I bought my MX.... all you have to do is go into the logitech setup and tell it that the scroll wheel is the middle button. (you'd think that's the default but it's not) should fix things for ya!
Andrew1
Hey Brian, thanks for your reply, I adjusted the settings and have set the scroll wheel as the middle button, and I noticed that it does work for a bit and then it kind of halts and locks , and then it work again, I think this is due to the double click action on the wheel button, I hate that function, why does that click in 2 steps when I press the scroll wheel , I am sure that is what locks the scroll button function..., I switched the middle button to back button for a while but it makes my work flow a lot slower..., how does that work for you ??/, is it flawless after you set the scroll wheel to middle button or does it lock up like mine ???, thanks
BrianKitts
ooh.... the other thing you need to do is disable the rocking side to side function of the middle button. What I think is happening is you click straight down, but then as you move your mouse the button slides left and right which has other functions and that cancels out your rotate in max. A coworkers mouse does the same thing.... my mouse is a bit older and doesn't have that functionality. (I only have 12 functions on my mouse not 20!) Andrew1
lol !!!, thanks man haha , I just figured that out..., I actually told that, left and right and press down to be the middle button , now it works PERFECT - I love it ..... that was kind of complicated but makes sense , Thanks again for your time, I got the exact same mouse at home , just can't wait to get back home and reset the other mouse... Cheers !
Stan Zaslavsky
i actually set up steering wheel for 3d max on the same mouse with a shortcut button - so rather than using "alt + " - the mouse has two buttons on the side of the thumb - so one of those is set up to trigger steering wheel and then it works like a charm just my 2c worth
