Greg Law
I just got an i7 computer the other day. I was hoping to find better preformance with it when using Sketchup. But I have found it much slower than my old one. The old one was a single core 3.6 and a 256 graphics card 3 Gigs of ramp. XP pro The new one is a i7 950 Gigabyte GTX260 super overclocked 896mb card 12 Gigs of ram Windows 7 Works well with Max but with Sketchup it is real slow. Anyone know what is going on? Crazy Homeless Guy
Not 100% sure, but I think SketchUp uses OpenGL, where as you are more than likely using DirectX for Max. I don't know how OpenGL works as far as drivers, but I would make sure you have the latest installed. If that doesn't work, maybe try a different graphics card driver. Even if it is an older one than what the latest release it.
AJLynn
Did you remember to turn on hardware acceleration in Sketchup? Some versions require that...
Greg Law
Thanks for your advice. It was the Graphics driver. I had to go back one version and now all is Ok.
