Ky Lane
I always wanted to ride a bicycle, but in Lebanon it is not advised as yo will surely get hit by a cager, I started riding a maxi scooter 650cc 18 months ago, it is so nice to run away from traffic jams. Its as bad here too. Drivers hate cyclists here, and the try to run you off the road, throw things at you etc. I usually commute with a helmet camera on, just incase. Frosty
Ky, what helmet cam do you use? Is it water proof? Have you used it in water? I'm looking at getting a GoPro in the next few weeks. In regards to bike prices, its true that DH bikes can be expensive, but so can the top end of any bike style. However, it is possible to get into a DH/FR bike for a reasonable cost. http://www.hucknroll.com/mountainbike/Santa-Cruz-Bicycles-Bullit-Mountain-Bike-R-FR-Build-Kit-2009/SNZ0010M.html http://www.hucknroll.com/mountainbike/Rocky-Mountain-Slayer-SS-396-Bike/RMB0024M.html http://www.hucknroll.com/mountainbike/Rocky-Mountain-Flatline-1-Bike/RMB0026M.html These are not the top end, but they'll beat the pants off most rental bikes as they tend to be pretty beat up. Also, the Rocky's and Santa Cruz's can be brought into Canada duty free as they are built in North America. Wheel World also sells Konas but will not ship complete bikes. A Stinky frame there is $800. Personally, I ride a 2006 Slayer that I convert from AM(32lbs) to DH(40lbs) with the switch of a few parts (wheels/fork/seat). Ky Lane
I have an old Vholdr. its not "water proof" but Ive used it in mud and rain before, and its fine. Go pros are good, but they look like someone glued a 30mm disposable camera to your head. The new Vholdr is nice tho, full 1080p HD and something like a 110 degree wide angle. Im going to upgrade to it soon. Yeah, I used to have an old scott genius, but didnt like the AM geometry. Gave me a sore back when doing big climbs. But throw a set of 140mm forks on it and itd prob be a decent all rounder. FYI: http://ridewithgps.com/users/3778 - Very cool site
