max.m
hi there, i work on a scene with about 13million polygons. i did the tests with distr. rendering with 2 computers. since 2 hours one render host doesn`t render any more, i get the message: "warning: render host unknown(ip adress) is not responding" all paths are unc, checked it in asset tracking. can it be the the ram-usage is too high for the pc that doen`t render(4gig ram)? the other one has 8gig ram. in teh task manager i saw that the ram usage of the 2 3dsmax.exe processes is about 8 gig. Jed-UK
Hi I am having the similar problem. My scene wont start the nodes at all but if I reduce the scene down to only a few components then it does?? I am using diplacement modifier on brick surfaces and hundreds of profiles shapes. I wish there was a good book on Vray Dr. Is Vray proxy the solution??
Tommy L
try turning off map filtering in the render panel (Globals) and in the displacement modifier. See if it renders....other than that, you'll have to post more information.
max.m
thanks for your replies, @jed-uk: if your nodes don`t render because of the ram-usage, proxys can be a solution as they reduce the ram-usage. @tommy l: which more informations would be usefull to indicate the problem? Jed-UK
thanks for reply, it isnt ram usage with me. I tried turning of the map filters no luck unfotunately Could it be large file size? I have onyx grass in the scene and that pushes the files size just a little J
max.m
i made rendertests now for a while and my problem correponds with the number of polygons in the scene. up to 8 million polygons in the scene the scene is transferred to both pc`s. if i have more polygons the scene woun`t be transferred to the 2. computer.i rose the virtual memory of this rendernode to 12gb, but it didn`t work. can someone tell me this problem is caused by the fact, that the pc(which the scene is not transferred to) has too little ram(4 gb) or if there is a limit of polygons in the scene when i want to use dr?
