mzagorski
Hello, Ive got some DWF files from the internet that I can view with Autodesk's WHIP plugin. I need to get the drawings printing to scale so that I can have them imported into Illustrator. I can print to PDF. Does anyone know how I can extract the CAD info or get them to print to scale? Thanks
Kerry Thompson
Hi Mike Try using Volo view Express, downloadable from the AutoDesk web site. This will allow you to read and then print the file to EPS or similar but you may still have issues with scale. Typically the dwf will be printed from AutoCAD layout space with a scale of 1:1. dwf is an electronic plot format, not a AutoCAD drawing so scale is controlled by how it is plotted. Maybe take a known dimension from the drawing and then scale it relatively in Illustrator? Volo view provides the AutoCAD print engine so allows you to print to scale - but costs. mzagorski
Thanks for the info - I actually knew the ins and outs of the Volo View / Whip plugins... its the scaling that was the problem. I'll see what I can do with Illustrator. Thanks for the reply.
Ryan Small
To print to scale either get Volo View (not Express) or the new Autodesk Express Viewer. Either of these two will allow you to print to scale. -Ryan
