cloakfiend
Hi, I haven't used reactor in a while, but when i followed a tutorial on a cloth simulation i created everything perfectly as i wanted but then wanted to slow it down only to find i had no keyframes AFTER i created the animation? any ideas? create animation is not creating keyframes? i tried to bake the animation using various scripts but i with no luck as they were all scripts fo transform based animations? i'm using max 2009 on XP32bit 2GB ram (simple animation of flag). The reason i want keyframes is that i want to slow it down but without keyframes i cant rescale the time!!! Thanks. Mac.
cloakfiend
Hold up, I am actually using max 2008 here at work. How do i get keframes for the animation in the timeline? Its not working Its says 601 keyframes stored in the properties section of the reactor cloth modifier of the plane, but never shows them to me on thre timeline? Any ideas? if i press create animation twice it freaks out, but still no keyframes? thanks.
Tommy Burns
You have to select the object to show the keyframes Let me know if this works Tommy
cloakfiend
Hello again, I did a reactor simulation with blocks and cloth and created it as usual to see what happened and now see that it creates keyframes for the blocks, but not for the cloth? The problem is that i want to put a time curve on the flag so that i can ramp its speed at certain intervals, but with no keys... no curve... no speed ramping unless i render everything out at 6 times slower then speed it up inafter effects or something which is a insane waste of time. cloakfiend
Thanks for the response Tommy, I thought i was doing something wrong, as i don't usually do cloth simulations, just blocks and rigid body stuff. I am guessing they don't work the same when it comes down to keyframes perhaps due to the cloth modifier (being a modifier). Mac.
cloakfiend
So does anyone know of any way at all to create keyframes for any cloth simulation? mac
Peter M. Gruhn
max 2010 I just made a cloth sim using what I learned on that curtain tut. Then I pressed the "make keyframes" button in the cloth sim and it made keyframes and deleted the cloth modifier. Either you're missing the "make keyframes button" (max version or oversight) or I'm missing what you are really doing (reading comprehension). Tommy L
Fran has done a couple of excellent cloth sim tutorials.
cloakfiend
Thanks a lot for the help, I'll try that out today, that make keyframes button sounds like it will do the job if i find it! I'm really starting to like cloth sims, but having a bit of trouble making heavy silk cloth that slides off anything it touches without freaking out and stretching too much. I'll have a look at the tuts though, thanks again. M
cloakfiend
Hi again, I still Cant find the button even under max2009(at home), what section is it in/under? can you post a screen shot? p.s. thanks for the threads, couldn't find any links to any cloth tutorials, but that DOFpro program looks hot and may give better results than after effects lens effects M! cloakfiend
There is no button. lol I found the response after hours of digging on 3d totalforum, basically saying how it would generate too many keyframes...blah blah but there is a script that you can use to do it....yipeee!! here is the link for those who like to mess with time ramping. Job done!!!! http://forums.3dtotal.com/showthread.php?t=65498
