BrianKitts
I use DirectX everyday over OpenGL because it outperforms OpenGL in 3dsmax ever wonder the history around the two splitting technologies??? I found the following article really interesting and thought I'd share. It's very one sided but...... all of their are arguments are really stong IMO. http://blog.wolfire.com/2010/01/Why-you-should-use-OpenGL-and-not-DirectX
pfbreton
From the point of view of a Game Production Studio, they may prefer one technology over the other for non-technical reasons (platform compatibility vs potential market etc). However, if you are a "regular max user" and not producing Games (where usually you want to turn max into a previz environment mimicing the graphic capabilites of your Game engine), I recommend you to stick with DirectX. This is where the bulk of the development effort went in the past releases of 3ds Max (shadows, lighting etc.) - you will get more functionnality in DX than in OGL inside 3ds max. Hope this helps,
