pablo scapi
Hello: I´ve just build a new PC using some of the components of my previous, for example the HHD. I had a RAID 1 setup with 2 discks, so now i want the same disks to be exactly in the same way (RAID 1) In my mobo manual (Asus p6t deluxe v2) it says i have to set it up in the bios, i need to create a new RAID volume with this two disks, but i´m afraid it will format the disks and lost the data (witch is exactly what i was tring to avoid) Of course i could backup everything and just try, but are a lot of GB and would take forever. Another thing i´m curious is about my SSD disk, i instaled a 64GB kingston for SO and programs, i was hoping to be damn fast but the windows 7 experience score in the hard drive was the lowest value of all, while i get 7,5 or 7,4 in the rest of components, i had a 5,9 in the data transfer speed (i was hoping this to be the best of all) Is there any tool to evaluate this speed trnsfer and compare it to mechannical HDD´s. pablo scapi
Well i have just found a post where this SSD performance is discussed and has some benchmarks, so i did the CrystalDiskMark myself and found my disk to be slower than those. Here the thread: http://forums.cgarchitect.com/37163-need-new-system-asap-electrical-storm-4.html and here my results:
Jeff Mottle
It's likely because of the SSD you are using. I think only Intel and Patriot drives will get that kind of performance.
pablo scapi
Yes, thats what i´m thinking rigth now, if i just knew before i would probably get another one. I just didn´t think it would be so important the brand, and kingston is one i´m familiar with and has a good background. Just to know BTW, if i decide to change the SSD disk in the future and re install the OS and software in that new disk, would i have to buy another Win7 because mine is an OEM? Hope no. About the RAID 1 setup, i guess it´s no possible to do without formating the units right? even if they have exactly the same data since allways have been in this raid setup.
