Dave Buckley
Any suggestions on the above? I'm was flicking through old copies of 3d world last night as i remembered one containing an open source pipeline, however, i couldn't see anything about video editing. Any suggestions? Has to be windows
Brian Cassil
I've used Microsoft Movie Maker to export .wmf files rather than doing it through premeire. The output is a little cleaner. Other than that I haven't used any of it's editing features but it does seem to have some capability there. A quick google search gave me this list of free editors: Microsoft Movie Maker Apple iMovie Avid FreeDV Wax Zwei-Stein
Dave Buckley
the problem i have with movie maker is that when importing an image sequence, there is a limit to the length of time each image is on screen. and you can't get it short enough to make the sequence play smoothly at let's say 25fps
Matt McDonald
You can use Max's RAM player to compile an uncompressed AVI that can be imported into other applications.
greg gilbert
VirtualDub and virtualdubmod works great for me, import image sequence , adjust levels, re size ,add logo, motion blur ,etc Been using it for about 3 years BTW free free free
Dave Buchhofer
Can't go wrong with virtualdubmod, the interface is a bit odd, but once you notice anything you'd want is in filters, then you're good to go. One i remembered was Jashaka, but it seems they've reinvented it since the last i've played with it. http://www.cinefx.org/cinefx/ looks like the current thing, will have to check it out, looks like they strayed away from their original editor based app, into a framecycler type app with encoding~
alias_marks
never really used in in a production pipeline but might recommend looking into jahshaka.. curious if anyone has used this and has any opinions/experiences to share... M-
Hazdaz
I have found MS's MovieMaker to be rather buggy, and too limiting in terms of what options it lets you output. So even though it's free, I find that it has MS's typical software limitations... it just seems like a 1/2-ass effort.
John Dollus
http://www.osalt.com/multimedia-and-audio osalt is a great resource for locating open source alternatives. Just plugin the name of a commercial release and it will list out some free options. Just another vote for virtualdub but if you have a linux build, Kino's good.
