Bark Texture Map Library

Yeah. I've seen that library. I guess I'm looking for hi-res seamless textures and that include decent bump maps. I found an article online about procedural bark modelers. It sounded pretty interesting. Definitely overkill for trees further than 20'. I have a foreground tree I really need to make hyper-real. Check out this article below.

Interesting but I'm not sure it resulted in an actual application. Anyone know anything about this?

procedural bark modelling?

i reckon you would have much better luck with zbrush if you need extreme levels geometry detail. i would have thought a good photo (with shadows painted out etc) and handmade greyscale displacement map based on teh diffuse would do?

I know it sounds crazy. But, if in fact it did exist, I would only use it for the one tree in the closest foreground. With an AO pass I think it could look really cool.

Well thanks Nic for the hints regarding Z brush. I'll take a look at it.

IMO..In the near future we'll be laughing about how we used to freak out about higher polygon counts. Using modeled bark won't seem so crazy for to much longer....
