Hello all, new to the forum...

Newbie help needed in UVW unwrap.

My question is that if i unwrap the faces and take it to PS then, do some painting cloning etc , how will i apply the bump map...(i am talking about the bump maps shipped with texture collections )

i modified the original diffuse map in photoshop.... is there a way to work it together in photoshop....

The way I do it is after creating the diffuse map I put the layers into a folder in P/s Called diffuse. Then Create another layers folder called Bump and copy the layers I need from the diffuse into the bump layer folder and create the bump map. Also do the same for specular and displacement if I need them. Then I just hide the layer groups except one i.e bump and save out. Then you just put them in the right slot in the material editor i.e bump in bump, displacement in displacement etc.. and your good to go.

thanks stefen, john, tom ....

that was what i was refering to..

say for example i took a texture from 3d total.. it has diffuse, bump, specular etc.. now i take the diffuse and apply in unwrapped faces.. modifying cloning... but now how will i manage the bump map for the same...

ps actions - havent tried that yet.. may be it will do the job.. need to learn that......

thanks

I think like Blitz said you will have to create your other maps from the diffuse, using the original bump and specular maps as a reference. Crazybump is a good piece of software for helping with this.

I found this tutorial which takes you through the process of unwrapping and creating all your maps, seems quite in-depth.
