BrianKitts
we've batted this one out already.... best said in the words from our fearless leader.. http://forums.cgarchitect.com/34526-cga-page-peal.html#post239984
AJLynn
Please accept the ads as a cost of doing business - without some sort of revenue stream, we couldn't have this very nice web site.
Tommy Burns
I understand why they are there but do they have to be so large?? at least you could ignore the page peel thing (sort of) but this is like it is waving at you It's probably alright on wider screens but I don't have one of those
AJLynn
Doesn't it make you want to go to London and learn some rendering? Come on, you know you want to
Brian Smith
I understand why they are there but do they have to be so large?? at least you could ignore the page peel thing (sort of) but this is like it is waving at you It's probably alright on wider screens but I don't have one of those Out of curiosity, would you be willing to pay a yearly fee to make them go away? Not everyone spends gobs of time on this site. Some people come once in a very rare while, and an ad like this makes catching their attention, far more likely...as it caught yours obviously. If the sight can't catch the attention of infrequent visitors, it might not generate the advertising dollars needed to stay in business. It's just that simple. Tommy Burns
I just think that the red and green tabs where enough to grab attention without the other stuff. Its only of-putting really when you are looking at other peoples images.
Jeff Mottle
As has been said MANY times before, advertising is what keeps this site online. As standard ad types become common place they tend to blend into the background and are ignored, which means less clicks, which means less $. This side tab ad is an experiment at new ways to draw attention. Like it or not, it works VERY well. Probably even better than the page peel. The number of clicks that these side tabs are drawing in is 2-3 times the normal rate and probably 5-10x industry average. They too will eventually grow tired and I'll try something new again. Bottom line is that unless you all start sending me checks each month, ads are not going away.
Justin Hunt
I don't mind the adverts, This one sparked my attention (pity I cant get to London) Its the overlay that I don't like, especially when viewing images. Does it really need to be always on top? Cant it drop behind images when they are viewed in the pop up viewer? (if thats whats its called) jhv

I did not realized the ad layer was showing up above the lightbox viewer. Should be fixed now.

amer abidi
Im not one for "in-your-face" ads, but I happen to really Like this one! I think its so funky looking!
Stephen Thomas
I like the tab idea generally and find them pretty unobtrusive (on a modestly sized widescreen monitor). Considering the stick Jeff got over the peeling corner thing these are a definite improvement and won't get in the way for those who still use the scroll bar The London gimmicks are just a one-off bit of fun aimed at trying to drum up some more business for the training session. They're obviously working well at grabbing attention!
BrianKitts
i don't mind it you just have to keep your window wide enough that it stays out of the way. Only thing that bothered me was the bad cutout job on tower that showed up when it pops ontop of a dark background.... although now the light box thing is fixed you don't see it as much anymore...
