BrianKitts
I don't think the add is really that silly. It's a just a front porch, 2D drawings and not even requiring a licensed architect. A couple plans elevations, hell throw in a section and a couple details.... assuming it's not a huge front porch, that could all be done in under two hours, call it a 50$/hr wage. that's really not that ridiculous.... that's just perfect for a local who works in a residential firm and knows the code somewhat with extra time on his hands to make a quick buck. Especially when the drawings are only for reference to the contractor.
Tommy L
I disagree. Silly money. I first thought it must be a typo and they left off a 0.

I agree that a pro could do the whole thing in 2 hours, but you forget the most important thing: Clients are never happy unless they suck every bit they can, especially unexperienced cleints. My bet is that they will drag this project for months, and you would spend the $100 on gaz you need to visit them to ask for your money. Besides if it never gets built you're out $50, even though you did everything you were supposed to. Let me just add that my wife was paid $3.5 an hour as an Architect in Beirut (silly money?), and still I think this is a bad deal.

Noise
I think this is largely standard fare for the US and Canada but, the additional 15 hours of personal time per week !!!!! Why stop there, why not demand a kidney as a guarantee that the student will turn up every day - which they might get back at the end of the internship. johneboy
OMG I've been working at ANARI DESIGN STUDIO since December, so far I cant complain aside from the bad expresso they offer in the lunchroom. My creative director is still under the illusion that drafting a room in AutoCad is an 7 hour job !! But I digress, at least they let me drive the company car (Mini Cooper) and the iPad they got us last week sans 3G! www.anaridesign.com 416 962-6274 ANARI DESIGN STUDIO Graphic Design Toronto, Interior Design Toronto, Print Design Toronto, Downtown Toronto signs,

I think you could afford the 3G.

I didn't see tom's answer, although I feel better that two of us were thinking it. furnishings are blocks, right? are you talking like working drawings with details and millwork? ihabkal
that's not bad if you get the job. are you working under the TN visa? I noticed the US flag, and you're in Toronto, how are the employment laws applying to you? After a few years living in Lebanon I wouldn't mind some company riding me for a few months anywhere in the US or Canada if there was a work and residence permit and a real job after that, that would be much better than living in here.
