Audio books

Ive started braving the Chicago winter and walking to work every day. I really enjoy it, but feel my 45 minutes each way could be better utilized if I further my 'reading'.

So Ive bought a 'Sansa Fuze' mp3 player and I want some audio books to listen to!

Me being a bit of a tightwad (see: cheap-ass) Im looking for a website where I can download cheap or free audiobooks.

Anyone have any recommendations? I found some freebies, but they are computer generated voices....eurgh. I would prefer a Morgan Freeman / James Earl Jones-esque quality in my narration, but maybe Im being picky.....

Thanks!

I would bite the bullet and subscribe to Audible. I have been a member for a couple of years, and it is really nice. ....other than that, maybe try borrowing books on CD from the library, and ripping them?

EDIT: Here is a free 14 day trial to Audible through TWiT. It includes 2 free books. But I would guess that you need to input a credit card to get the free trial, and then cancel at day 14.

Tom,

My cousin works at a small town library in Ontario. This past summer, she showed me a new gizmo that she was testing prior to buy for the community collection. It was essentially an mp3 player/audio book/cartridge thing. A stand alone single book mp3 player. Each book is its own player and the borrower just plugs their headphones into it. Looked pretty neat.
