Eric Sosa
got a new pc with windows 7 64bit installed for a couple of weeks ago, awesome working/rendering with win 7 64bits in a pentium 7 with lots of ram...yes, unfortunatelly only while I am close to the pc . apologizes if this is s silly question but....windows 7 stops max/vray after sometime if there is no activity ...what? .....despite having set the computer & screen to NOT stop ever. kinda, if I do not move the mouse for over an hour, the pc goes to "sleep" and stops rendering or downloading, so when I come back I need to log myself in windows again. anyone with a tip, please? delete or move this thread if unsuitable for this forum
shadi2009
Hi I use win 7 64bit since 6 month with no any problem I advice you to check your Screen Saver settings to make it inactive other thing tray to contact with Microsoft and explain to them your problem maybe they well solve it to you
mattclinch
first thing i did when i got windows 7 was to customise the power options so it turns nothing off. by default it likes to shut down screens, hard drives, pci cards, processor speed etc. nightmare, but good once they are all turned off - might be worth trying this.. mfured20
I suggest what mattclinch said... It seems windows 7 comes with an automatic power-saver that shuts down the computer if its left alone for too long [default setting is half an hour]. Its under control panel> system and security> Power Options. Odds are, the current power setting is "Balanced (recommended)". Click the "Change Plan Settings" button on the right, and you can then change the "put computer to sleep" setting to never. That will likely solve your problem. abmitalia
Thank's a lot. I changed to windows7 64 bit too and with 8cores 32GB Ram I wondered how to make him render in my absence. greatings RK
Eric Sosa
thx to both matt's. I have changed the "balanced" powersavings setup for the hard disk, screen, procesor, etc to NEVER switch off....it looks like it works, BUT; I still need to login after sometime and besides the renders seems to be hold again until I move the mouse! I have checkt the powersavings several times and made sure the NEVER is on....tho still do not understand how come I need to log myself in after sometime....kinda very anoying. I suppose the only way to check if the render stops if making the same huge render twice; one when moving the mouse often and the other one leaving the pc alone for long time, and then compare times....ughh . mfured20
sounds like a problem with your security settings, but I dont know much about trying to fix those. I have security just about completely off on my slaves, so I dont have to worry about things like that.
