bigcahunak
You are probably right if you compare it to ACAD or DCAD, which arent real modelers. the xCADs are for drafters and such. FormZ, Rhino... these are real modelers. but as said before - in order to compare, one need a fair knowledge basis in both, which is unlikely unless you test programs rather than use them... And then, when you just test and dont work with a program, you wont run into real world problem situations...
choochee
correct ! believe me, I use also MAYA and it's very advanced and supposed to be like the apps U mentioned, however it's lack of *precise* modeling and architectural design approach is what causing me to model in ARC+. choochee
u 2 r so wrong.... there are still lots of users, but since the comptetion did the right thing and copied it's features it's less known now. Still it's the best modeler for architecture, we use it like 10 years and autocad and other clowns like datacad r still not at the same level... but we also use MAYA just in case
STRAT
bigcahunak - real modellers? what is a 'real' modeller?
bigcahunak
Originally posted by STRAT: bigcahunak - real modellers? what is a 'real' modeller? I bey U know what I ment, but... real modeler is a program that was developed to do only 3d models! Not electric wire diagrams or any kind of drafting. Why is it that LS is so good at what it does? - Its because its the only thing it does - light calc. FormZ models 3D objects, and pretty good too... rhino nurbs... AutoCAD - hmmm
STRAT
Big C - yeah, i do know what you mean i just hate the term 'real' modeller. it's all revative.
choochee
still in my experience ARC+ gives the best modelling properties for architecture...it is a real modeller designed for precise modelling of houses etc. and not nurbs characters. STRAT
well how many ppl here actually use it? personally i havent even heard of it, and i doubt there's enough participation here to warrant another forum made up for it.
choochee
check out my site to see works done with it... but I really don't know if it's well known as it used to be, because the original company broke down so now it's developed by another company.
