johhieef
Hallo! No its not your fault you should be able to move the hole, images and text with the move button if that's not possible then its my fault.
abmitalia
OK - like many users I'm not used to play with the position of the menu button - Statistics even say about new - homepage visitors, that they do rest on the first impression for about 5-10 sec. So if they don't know how to interact well and fast they change website - So for the begining try to put the position more centered in order to make people stay. alexg
after I click project, I just confused for couple sec, thought the web just freezes, that is until I found the 'architecture' etc project descriptions on the right of it. maybe add description to the project bar to help with orientation? IceAged
This might sound harsh, but you really need to rethink this entire website - it will probably do you more harm than good in it's current format. Briefly, the background image is huge and requires horizontal scrolling, which should never be necessary - imagine a user with a 15" laptop screen. There's no purpose in being able to move the main menu, it's just a Flash gimmick that causes confusion. The projects section requires far too many clicks to get too, the previews are barely visible, and there's no option to scroll through each project. Take your best images and make them as accessible as possible, because on a website you have a matter of seconds to pitch your work and then the viewer is gone! Jonathan Sanchez
Hey John I agree with Thomas The idea for your site is cool... but if you want to maximize it's potential, you have to make it people friendly. The easier you make it for people to see your work, the higher the chances they will. Typically flash menus, although cool looking, do the opposite. johhieef
Hello again! Thanks for you comments, i found them more than usefull, i'm working allready on some changes in order to make it more user friendly. I'd like nevertheless to add some more information about the website. First of all, i wanted to say that the purpose of the site is more showing, rather than advertising my work, I dont aim on possible clients at the moment. My intention is to make people interact and some of them find something that could interests them. For me this site was a project developed on the previous idea. I'm waiting more comments, also from this point of view Thank you all & Have Fun ;-)
abmitalia
Well I don't know what you are doing as profession and what you'd like to do in future but if it has something to do with cgarchitect you shoud skipp your brave ideas and start up advertising yourselfe and your work as early as you can - by the way.. the best way to make people interact is to turn off all traficlights in Berlin the same time
3darchitect
I'd like nevertheless to add some more information about the website. First of all, i wanted to say that the purpose of the site is more showing, rather than advertising my work, I dont aim on possible clients at the moment. My intention is to make people interact and some of them find something that could interests them. For me this site was a project developed on the previous idea. I'm waiting more comments, also from this point of view Thank you all & Have Fun ;-) I'm not really sure what you mean by "the purpose of the site is more showing" but it sounds like (to me) that the purpose of this site isn't the content or to represent you, its simply a few form of web interaction to get people thinking - is that correct? If that's the case, then it accomplishes the goal of being new and different, but I'm going to agree with the many of the previous comments and say that it needs to be more user friendly. There's nothing wrong with finding new ways to direct web interaction, but you need to think about the users as well, what they are used to, and what they are expecting. That aside, I feel the site as a portfolio and as a website in general needs rethinking. The idea that your entire content moves around its a cool idea, but you need to consider the technical ends. Not everyone has a large display that will allow them to view all that expanded content at the same time, so they'd have to move it around when a new side menu pops up (bad bad bad). Also, in terms of presentation, you're limiting yourself with the way you can display your work - everything in your projects is limited to an extremely horizontal heavy aspect ratio. This will force you to crop images in a way that will retract from their presentation, among other side effects.
abmitalia
Adding to Luke - Web feedback research shows even that 80% of people navigating in internet do use a risolution lower or equal as 1024x 768 . So many homepage makers do setup there work due to this fact - think about it . greatings RK
johhieef
Hi & sorry for the late responce, I'm really happy for this conversation because it gives me ideas to improve my webspace. Ralf: thank you for the usefull information, i am an architect but i am interested in design in general, i wouldnt say that my job is so close cgarchitect, i admire though lot of works that i see here and i'd really like to achieve this level on cg but for the time i need lot of practice. Do you really think that Berlin is so not interactive? i'd say the opposite but anyway your experiment would have fun ;-) Greetings from Berlin (Isnt it strange that the north people moving south and the south people north?) Luke: I'd really say that you have seen my website in a unique way, which sounds (to me) beyond my expectations and, to be honest, my skills. Anyway i am very curious to hear more about this if you want and you have time to tell. In general i understand the "user friendly" problems and i'm "thinking" right now the changes that need to be done. The problem you recognized of limited prasantantion exist and its in contrast with the concept of the moving site that allows any type of picture or video to be used. That's only because all presentation material cames from the first version of the site which was more "static" and i didnt have the time to make the adjustments. Thnx again!!! Have fun
