shikodesign2000
Hi, The company I'm working in right now think in buying a workstation for faster rendering, I thought if there's a strong laptop with similar high configuration?? The workstation configuration is: HP WORK STATION XW 8600 Intel Xeon Quad Core 3.0 Ghz x 2 16 GB Ram 500Gb Hdd Dvd Rw FX 4800 1.5GB Vista Buz & Xp Pro Oem
Grohu
Remember one important aspect of rendering. It pushes components to 100% usage thus generating lots of heat. Laptops have closed enclosure and their ventilation is far from perfect which will limit systems longelivity. Xeon is a server grade CPU so you won't find it in laptops as of now. That Xeon setup is great by all means. One thing I would change is that Quadro card. If you system is going to be a rendering machine you don't need that GPU. Regular GTX 285 will save you lots of $$ you can drop on extra memory or even faster CPU's.
AJLynn
You can't get that kind of CPU power in a laptop. There are a few quad-core i7 models out there but they're not as fast as the desktop models and they're not available in dual-quad.
