Podge
Good morning folks, I put a new rig together and I was under the impression that I had enough processing power and ram to complement it(i7 920 oc@3.8ghz with 6gb ram). I'm using Max2010 x64 sp1 on Windows7 x64 with Vray 1.50sp3. I put a very simple scene together. The composition is of a corner of a room with two windows adjacent to each other. Vray materials with no maps other than refract for the glass( samples 8), a vray sun. I'm using Vary built in frame buffer; Imgae sampler is DMC Max2 Min1 with antialiasing on Area 1.5. I'm using Irradiance and Light cache for the GI see image. Dynamic memory limit is 500mb plenty for this scene. When I go to render 640x480 Light cache is going to take 12min+. For these draft render setting I was sure it would take no more than 1min Can someone please help me with this...
Thablanch
Mabee this should be in the Vray Forum section... Light cache.. Do you have any pure white materials. Sometimes, when materials are too white, LC goes on for ever. As well, any displacement? Light cache can be long with displacement. Memory limit should be computer related, and not scene related. So, you have a macjhine that can take some, I would at least get that to 2000mb.
YOHKOH
HI check your windows for double geometry. If you have two planes on top of each other, it can cause problems, even more so if you are using a transparent material.
