BrianKitts
Pretty unlikely that'd you'd get some shop drawings for a bed, best you can probably get is a product sheet from the manufacturer. The bed in the image you posted is modeled after a Hill-Rom bed. http://www.hill-rom.com/usa/PDF/153249.pdf Most medical manufacturer's don't like to release their 3d models (specially Hill-Rom) We did a project with Stryker where they were a direct sponsor, and criticized the bed model I was using, finally they provided me with theirs.... so you could try to work something contacting the manufacturer, but it's not likely to work out. The only other company I know of that has released a good amount of medical equipment is Berchtold, who does a lot of boom and light equipment for ORs. One thing you can get is that overbed table which can be found on google warehouse. There's also a couple beds on there, but they aren't very good..... but could be used as a starter for sizing, and then you just need to remake better siderails and end pieces. jinsley
Thx Brian... just found this image. I think I will just use splines, extrude and bevel for my purposes and then toss a pillowy thing and some sheets on it. Dave made it sound simple in his post that I linked to earlier... we shall see! Dave Buchhofer
yea, for some reason the med folks don't like to give out their models at all, and tend to try and get you to sign NDA's even to get plans... If you're part of an arch firm, architects can snag the elevations/cad blocks a lot of the time. a basic sense of scale is usually good enough. that one in the render is a pretty low res model, with mapped photographic sides from our last trip to the hospital with the boy~ (heh). Crazy Homeless Guy
Brian.. I only recognize, 1, maybe 2 models from previous employment. The teddy bear, and possibly the door handle. Though I do think the wood texture on the headwall was from the previous library. I would have expected many more, but then again, I haven't directly done a patient room in some time. I do miss them though. Anyway, James, you could order this... Though I am not sure if what it worth. It may only have very generic CAD block information. https://www.hill-rom.com/usa/Design_Form.asp Edited February 24, 2010 by Crazy Homeless Guy
BVI
Have you checked out Sketchup Warehouse? Some nice base models to get you started there. http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=6d5b0f0f15794f22c54e048db3377093&prevstart=0 http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=dc3a136dc4c4e4c5e0c2192ca0bc7f5a&prevstart=0 We just did a similar project - (this week in fact)! jinsley
I looked at hill-rom and a few others last night before heading to the pub to watch the Canada vs Germany game and I think I am just going to model it. The architect and the client seems to be a little fussy with what is presented so I think I will end up doing quite a few sketches on trace over some images before any model gets put together. I will post it later today for comments... thx for all the help!

Thx very much... will see if the client et al are fine with them. If anything, they will be great for reference.

[/url] Yeah I've been rebuilding a lot of our old pieces over time..... you're right about the door handle.... and that's still your bear..... remember this??? http://forums.cgarchitect.com/22844-bear-hair.html There's a couple more old pieces in another view, I think it's your clock, Jonathon's hand sani's and possibly the sharps container which has been re-textured, and I don't remember who built the paper towels but those are definitely an old FormZ cross-over. The carts are legacy too. I'm pretty burnt out on patient rooms by this point so I've been trying to build new stuff for them as much as possible to make it interesting. The IV pole is that latest addition.
BrianKitts
oops... forgot to add the point I was going to make after all that.... when it comes to healthcare.... you tend to end up modeling most of the details yourself, there's a few libraries out there now but most aren't very current so it's not worth purchasing. BVI
I think Dosch had a medical pack - it might be a bit out dated. I've taken this type of asset modelling for granted. we have an inhouse modeller who does all this grunt work - his speciality is parking lots and furniture ha.
