Ernest Burden III
Not a bar so much as a model of a bar. I have a cluster of restaurant/bar renderings at the moment, and for some of them will need to show typical bottles arranged on shelves behind a bar. I have searched most of the 'usual suspects' model on-line stores and come up empty. One guy on turbosquid is seling a model of a whole room with a bar in it, but doesn't show it well enough to see if he has bottles. I may buy it just to see. Some sites have models of a single bottle--like a 50K poly 'feature' model. I need low-polygon so I can put a lot of 'em in for a good-looking background. This seems like something that may exist from a previous job. So can I buy a copy from someone? Or be directed to a site that has what I need--that I missed in my search? Email me if interested in selling a model. Thanks!
STRAT
Hi Ernest. i dont have all the bottles and drinks, but i do have a basic bar i drew up for a job a couple years back. it has a curved end to it and has shelving on the rear wall. this is a basic look see - if you want the dwg's then please say so
Ernest Burden III
STRAT Thank you for the quick response. My bar will be a custom piece so I will be building that. What I am looking for are the bottles, which are visible at just about any bar (not that I spend much time in bars--work too much for such pastimes). An alternative to a model would be a link to a document with typical sizes/shapes so I can model 'em myself (which I am obviously trying to avoid). Everyone who designs/renders a bar business must need to account for the typical bottle collection.
STRAT
you could try e-mailing Kaos, one of my m8's and a CGA forums member at - adrianh@radius.ie i seem to remember he's done a couple of bar scenes with all the bottles and optics and all that. explain the situation to him, see what he says
bigcahunak
Do you really need them accurate 100%...? I'd model them myself. Anyway, check your mail, I sent you some beers

John Dollus
There was a sample scene included with Lightscape that had a bunch of colored glassware in it. Perhaps you could use some of those....
miguelafi
are you familiar with the forest plug in...? if so u can take pictures and photoshop then so you can use with the plug in and arrange as many bottles as u want and they look very real... i try that the last week and it look very good in an animation, if u are interested i can sent you the bottles with the alpha channel... cheers
Ernest Burden III
u can take pictures and photoshop then I was trying to do this with models. There are several bars, so a set of models will be useful for all. It's this sort of thing, as low-poly models: Well, if no-one has this and I have to model them myself, I should think about putting them on turbosquid myself. But I'd still rather buy than make. At this point I'd rather drink than draw...
xgarcia
Ernest - you're using lightscape correct? I tihnk you might just have to model them. If you were using max/viz forest pro would do the trick wonderfully as suggested above. Just model them low poly in your datacad program. lets us know how it turns out. Here is alittle tutorial (might be off base for what you're tring to accomplish but what the heck) jack daniel's bottle tutorial. It was written using lightwave but I think the texturing part of it you might be able to glean something from. Plus you get to drink! William Alexander
Ernest, I just tried search MSN for vodka. #1 on the list was a site that listed brands ect. Many pics avialable. I think whisky and so on would yield good results also. A little cut & paste or cylander mapping might work. Once being a "professional" consumer, an assortment of off brand labels and a "top Shelf" row or two really gives the authentic look. So whats not visible in front can be higher quality and less visible not so high.
William Alexander
...Continued, All this talk about Jack Daniels - Got out the text area. Hit the enter key by accident and posted. The forest pro plugin would work well. If you would be interested, I have some time. I need some bar related clutter. I do quite a bit of custom cabinetry design including bars, it's more productive than sitting at one. orangeno WDA
MikeGentile
Low Poly 3d also has a bar scene for $25 or so...It works well if you don't need to get very close to it. Mike Gentile www.focus360.com

Could you post a URL--and have forgiveness if its something obvious--I looked at lowpoly.com, lowpoly3d isn'r even a registered domain (humm...), I couldn't find the site listed on viz2000 or cgarchitect. In other words, I've tried...
Ernest Burden III
I will be seeing the bottles in several renderings, which is why I want to use models. Last night I put in a bunch of 3D fish to one scene--I must be a lunatic. Lots of them. Today, flowers on tables, why not go for more 1200 poly per plant models? Why NOT? This is one of the bars, final view to be determined later. The frosted glass boxes will have shelves lined with liquor bottles:

formfinder
hello ernest, have just read your post ... I do have some bits and pieces in my archives and I wondered, if they might help ... ??? http://www.cgarchitect.com/forum/filepush.asp?file=bottlesandsuch.jpg if so, just drop me a mail - and I can send them ... (they are viz4-max.files, so tell me, if you need something different) Regards, Steffen
Ernest Burden III
http://www.lowpolygon3d.com/cgi-bin/cp-app.cgi Thank you! I'll buy that and see if it works. I got busy with other tasks and still haven't settled the bottle problem. I got the model but unfortunately it is mostly textures--a waste of 20 bucks, oh, well. The texture they have used should be a decent background to model over, so maybe not a total waste. Here's what I got: Well, the site IS lowpolygon3D... mzagorski
Why not just pay a freelancer to do it? The images that you show will loose a fair amount of details with the grain effect so its not like its a lot of work... make 1 or two diff. bottles, add a couple of different labels... scale a few to get different sizes etc.... how hard can it be! Ernest Burden III
So this is where it ends. I finally knuckled down and made a set of bar bottles. These are pretty good. Lower-poly would be better in some cases, but I think this group will serve for most renderings: The bottles are all polygons, no maps. I still have a few issues to fix on the models. I suppose now I should list the group on Jeff's new 3D stuff store.
