erickdt
I have always had a problem with VRay Light materials that use bitmaps coming out very blown out when used in a gamma corrected workspace. Is there anyway to get bitmaps to display correctly within VRay light materials within a gamma corrected workspace? E
Tommy L
I think the only way is just to adjust the multiplier for the Vray light material.
BrianKitts
I typically just use a vray light material for illuminated textures to get it into the rendering at the illumination that I want, then place a hidden vray light in front of it to get the scene illumination that you want out of the object. That way you can just adjust the material appearance and overall lighting separately.
erickdt
Thanks for the tips guys. This was an issue because I very often will use VRay light materials with bitmaps for TV screens and lightbox graphics and they were always getting blown out when I moved to a LWF workflow. I've actually figured out a pretty good workaround. I simply used a color correction map in the bitmap slot of the VRay light material and adjusted the gamma that way. It worked out great!
