Matt Sugden
I'm looking at buying additional licenses for AutoCAD and they are very expensive £3k upwards or £1.5k for LT. For the very limited drawfting features we need basically the zoom and delete function, for cleaning up drawings in DWG format, there must be some significantly cheaper alternatives? What packages are other using. I've tried importing DWG directly into Max in the past and cleaning from there, but it has been impractically slow compared to doing it in AutoCAD. TheAllusionisst
TurboCad or IntelliCad (AutoCad Clone). I have IntelliCad from when it was a commercial product and when MicroSoft bought out the parent company they released it to the public. http://www.intellicad.org/ http://www.cadopia.com/ Now vendors package it and sell it for a reasonable price (Starting out around $295 I believe). It was created by the "GeneriCad" people who Autodesk bought out and used to make AutoCad LT (That is what I believe happened, it has been years now), and they went out and make their own Acad clone that reads and writes in DWG format. TurboCad has been around for ages as a low cost alternative http://www.turbocad.com

litleboy
I have seen more advertising from turbocad than other softs. Look on the specs of each to see who offer more compatibility with dwg files.

JCADEnthusiast
The company I work for released a lightweight CAD recently which might suit your needs. It's called JCAD tabula. There's a ad video on Youtube and 7-day trial can be downloaded from jcadtools webstore. You might wanna try it out.

Good Luck Pe That is just re-packaged "Intellicad" as recommended earlier, a good alternative if you want an Acad clone.
