That's a great idea. I mean, it would be nice to be able to further discuss topics and ideas. Or ask for help right on the spot. On the other hand it would be necessary to have someone on charge of the channel. I mean, Jeff can't do all this by himself. Can he?

OK. Forgive me I've never used mIRC. I have a rough idea of what it is, but what does the auto operator do? And no I probably can't do that too. :) I'm spread so thin, that if I take on any more, I'll probably die from exhaution. Seriously.

Would I assign somebody? I'll look into setting this up once I get home where I have full internet access, I can't access mIRC from work. We have internet filters in place that prevent us from accessing anything non work related. Heaven forbid. If the work gets done who the hell cares?

Anybody know what the process is to register a mIRC address and what is involved?

visit here - http://www.mirc.com should give you all the info you need.

i've never personally registered my own chanel Jeff so i cant advise there, but all should be made clear at the web site.

Pain in the arse are works IT managers. We've got a strick internet code in work. Luckily CGARCHITECT.COM is on the white list.

Auto Operators - this is a list where people chosen by the registerer (usually ppl with fixed IP addresses) are recognised by the program when they log on and are given moderators rights automatically.

As i say, i'm an operator on #maxforums channel (a dalent channel) and am usually there for most of the weekends. come and visit. we'll have a chat. :)

Thinking about it, if you have the inclanation or time, an java applet can be set up through this forum so live chatting can occure. just ideas here.

I'm having problems with the mIRC. I get this message "Closing link: 0.0.0.0. You match the pattern of a known trojan, please check your system" everytime I try to connect. What should I do? :(

OK guys...I think I have done it. *I think* #cgarchitect on DALnet is now the official MIRC channel for CGarchitect.com. Once I figure out what the hell I'm doing I'll set up some of the moderators as SOPs. Ohhhh look at me talk all MIRCish. :)

Let me know if you can get on and if it works. The title should say "The Official CGarchitect.com Channel"

No guarantees I'll be on Sunday as I'm heading to the mountains to go hiking. I'll try later at nite tho.

I have made a background for setting it as a background in MIRC. :)

Instructions: Save this image wherever you want in your hard disk. Press in the top left icon of the cgarchitect channel window. Then Background Select... select the image. Also you can set there how to display the image. maybe fill is the best option.

Select one :p

I'd personally use a less busy server, so you don't have channels infested with spammers, warez traders, and so your nickname doesn't have to be 3dsmaxguru^^23423 or something like that.

My network of choice is irc.burghcom.com.

I noticed this thread was quite old and I am not sure that the Dalnet channel is around anymore. I thought if anyone made it to the last page of this thread I'd just post a quick note saying either click on the 'live chat' button in the upper right hand corner of the page or /join #architecture on efnet irc via mirc.
