A few animation questions.....

I plan on creating my first personal animation project as a portfolio piece but I have a couple of questions regarding workflow.

 

1. What is the best format to save the file as? Is it better to save out as individual TIFFs and composite them in AE?

 

2. My resolution is 864 X 480, Pixel Aspect 1.0.......Right now my rendertime is around 40mins excluding pre-passes. Any tips on resolution size for HD output?

 

3. How often should I have the Irr Map and LC calculated? Every 5th frame?

 

4. I plan on compositing everything in AE but I have never used the software. Any tips on importing the animation into the software?

 

I would appreciate any tips or suggestions for this personal project. I can post the settings that I plan on using if that would help you-help me. Thanks. Attached is a still image of one room in the scene.
