zhopudey
I sure am running into wierd little problems in max I currently have a render with aspect ratio of about 0.68 Now the client wants a wider view, as he wants to see more on both sides. How can I change the aspect to say 1.2, without changing my current view in any way? (i.e., only increase the view on both sides while keeping the center part the same). Hope I've explained my problem clearly enough.
Stephen Thomas
This script does exactly what you're looking for. It's saved the day for me a few times! http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/overscan
Stephen Thomas
To do it yourself (and I haven't tested this exactly) you should change the FOV arrow to show vertical, then copy the FOV value. Now change your render dimensions, select your camera again and paste back in the original vertical FOV value.
zhopudey
This script does exactly what you're looking for. It's saved the day for me a few times! http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/overscan Thanks Though this doesn't work with a vray cam, as there is no FOV property. I'll go thru the script and check if there is some simple modification that'll work with vray cams.
zhopudey
Figured it out finally (after 2 years ). The overscan script is a bit complicated as the max camera doesn't have a focal length property. With a vray cam, it only needs a straight forward calculation - New Focal Length = Old Focal Length * Old render width / New render width.
