angelnocturno
hi everybody.. i'm going to update my workstation, i buy a pair of quad core xeon 5410, the question is what's better on MB to work 3d max.. SUPERMICRO or INTEL.. on supermicro i found this one X7DWA-N vs s5000xvn (intel). i know both are so good, but someone recomend me one... thank you
MandelbrotJr
Well, they are both good boards but while the Intel s5000xvn has the 5000x chipset the Supermicro X7DWA-N has the 5400. There are a couple of differences (ie. PCIE 2.0, etc) but the biggest one is that the 5400 can support CPUs with the FSB up to 1600 Mhz while the 5000x can only go up to 1333 Mhz. So CPUs with 1600 FSB like E5462, E5472 can only work on the suppermicro mb.
