Texture size problem

Firstly let me just say that im still new to 3ds max.

 

ok my problem is that the tiling is the right size i want in the viewport, but as soon as i render it it comes out way too big. i have to scale it down so it looks tiny in the viewport for it to render the size i want. this is irritating coz its a trial and error thing, and i dont have much ram to waste all the time.

 

ok on the object i am using has an unwrap uvw and a uvw mapping modifier

I'm going to take a guess here.

 

You aren't using a bitmap. Those should be consistent between viewport and render.

 

The built in 3d procedurals have issues. I'm running a test right now using Noise to make sure I tell you things that are at least half true.

 

Switch the texture (Noise or whathaveyou) to Coordinates: Explicit Map Channel.

 

Then it should show the same size in the viewport and the render.

 

I've only ever poked at this issue a little. Somebody with deeper knowledge may chime in. Listen to them ;-).
