Umlungu
Firstly let me just say that im still new to 3ds max. ok my problem is that the tiling is the right size i want in the viewport, but as soon as i render it it comes out way too big. i have to scale it down so it looks tiny in the viewport for it to render the size i want. this is irritating coz its a trial and error thing, and i dont have much ram to waste all the time. ok on the object i am using has an unwrap uvw and a uvw mapping modifier
Peter M. Gruhn
I'm going to take a guess here. You aren't using a bitmap. Those should be consistent between viewport and render. The built in 3d procedurals have issues. I'm running a test right now using Noise to make sure I tell you things that are at least half true. Switch the texture (Noise or whathaveyou) to Coordinates: Explicit Map Channel. Then it should show the same size in the viewport and the render. I've only ever poked at this issue a little. Somebody with deeper knowledge may chime in. Listen to them ;-).
Justin Hunt
The Tile maps doesn't always show size correctly in viewport, or more accuratly doesn't appear to show size correctly if the colour vatiation is set to 0, try 0.1 or 0.2 jhv
