TimeAttack
I work on 3D about once a week in my free time, I work in 2D for a living so I don't get a lot of practice with this 3D stuff lately. I did work in 3D for about 2 years but was laid off and decided I didn't want to chase contract jobs and look for new work every few months, so I work in a print shop as a more steady income. Anyway, here is my study of an IKEA room layout that I've modified and added a few things here and there. I need suggestions on what program or what technique to get nice creases in my couch leather. Also need any good ideas or the like for making a shag rug, thick fibers and really shaggy and soft looking for under the coffee table. Here is a quick shot of a part of the room that I rendered off today, I will post my earlier ones a bit later on so you can see my progress. Just using a skylight right now with no roof so the light can flow into the room for quick easy lighting while I am working on the models. Small update... I spent a bunch of time trying a few things to make a shag rug and I think I have a decent method set up, but with such a high poly count I will have to leave the rug for the very last part of the project. nodar1978
I need suggestions on what program or what technique to get nice creases in my couch leather. which program do you use now? there are lots of programs which gives you nice renderings, but i think that 3ds max with vray is one of the best this days. but of course there are many other 3D softwares as well
mfured20
Hey I'm glad you are working on this in your spare time... I don't use maxwell, so I dont really have any suggestions to offer. But by the time you get to some final images, I would be happy to help you troubleshoot your images.. Camera angles, lighting, etc. Keep us updated. TimeAttack
I really don't enjoy how the uploader reduces the quality of the image. Especially in a forum that relies on quality of image so highly. Really poor. I will be manually uploading all my images over again and here on forward. The attachment function is easy to use and creates a nice thumbnail, but it's a total fail. Edited March 19, 2010 by TimeAttack

TimeAttack
Few details to work out: sofa creases, magazine and book textures, picture frame textures, rug, there is some texture stretching on the curtains Edited March 27, 2010 by TimeAttack
TimeAttack
I added a carpet texture (credit goes to the maxwell materials forum) Added another render, hopefully this will invoke a comment or two. I still have texture stretching on my curtains, I will work on finding a maya tool that can script it so that the UVs become more under control.
