nicknitro
Is there a way in Max and Mental Ray to only Motion Blur a specific object in a model? There is a checkbox to "Motion Blur All Objects" In MR's Motion Blur but is there a way to only motion blur one object you determine? Edit: Also I need to just render a certain object in a turntable (this has to do this ^ as well) Now all I need to do is mask all the objects and render the one object. What is a good way to mask all the other objects so all I have left is their alpha information so I can go in post and comp it in. I am currently using Mental Ray's :Matte Shadow Reflection: Material on all the objects I dont want rendered. nicknitro
Ok to answer this question after more digging. Under object properties there is a Motion Blur section and if you turn off Enable I believe that disables Motion Blur for those specific objects in the scene. Still I want to know possibly a better way to mask of objects from rendering so all I have is their Alpha information. I have it working but it takes as long to render as if the objects were shaded. I was wondering if there were some settings I could turn off that I am overlooking when I apply the Matte Shadow Reflective Material to them. nelpiper
I know you wanna do it in MAX but do motion blur in post will save your a lot of time and pulled out hair. Render masks for the objects you want motion blured and use reelsmart motion blur plugin for After Effects (for animations) or Photoshop (stills). Good luck.
