Peter M. Gruhn
Probable noob q. I have some colums, nicely UVW'd: box: realworld. But getting corners lined up is a pita. So I'm unwrapping them, lay out the faces next to each other across the texture and they look great so long as we don't inspect the north east corner where the seam is. I'm OK with that. But when I do the unwrap then pop into edit, my faces are HUGE. I scale them down to match roughly 20 count of my smallest stones and get an OK answer. I'd LIKE to be able to unwrap to realworld on the existing texture so the scale is preserved and all I have to do is move around. Is there a technique to do this? Is there an "unwrap to existing mapping" button?
PiXeL_MoNKeY
Real world mapping isn't designed for custom unwraps. Unwrapping works where values inside 0.0-1.0 U/V/W space are non-tiled and those outside represent tiled data. Also, Real World Mapping is inversely related to the tiling parameter. As you increase the Real World scale the tiling actually becomes smaller values. Simple answer don't try to unwrap in connection with Real World Mapping, as the unwrap modifier isn't effected by Real World Scale. -Eric
