sail
Hi everyone my name is Sail, I'm having problem with 3D Max 2009, I want to model a car but before I can do that, reference images need to appear on the planes. I've tried everything in order for it to appear, I've tried dragging the texture from the material editor onto the plane, tried clicking on assign material to selection and clicking on show standard map in viewport as well as clicking on show end result. I even tried closing max and opening it up again but all that happens is that I apply the texture to the plane which goes gray, then once I click on show standard map in viewport, the plane turns to a lighter gray. I also tried the alt+b method of having a reference image on the front viewport but still same thing happens. Can someone please help me out as I have tried everything, even looking on google, I cannot do anything till the reference images appear. Thank You Sail
aristocratic3d
you can try a UVW modifier on the plane. it might have lost the coordinator.

sail
Ive tried adding the uvw map modifier but again nothing appears on the plane. When I rendered the scene, the reference image appears on the plane, I'm really lost on what to do. Also how do I put up some screen grabs as its my first time using this forum, when I go to "Insert Image" its asking for a URL. sail
Hey guys, just wanted to thank you for trying to help me out, you will be happy to know that I solved the problem from another thread on this forum, I basically needed to change the display driver in the preferences from Direct3D to OpenGl, the texture appears on the plane, so if you have a problem like this in the future, then I hope this can help you out. neil poppleton
Glad its fixed Sail. I think on the uploading of images, I understand you need to have posted a handful of posts in the first instance, not sure the exact number, maybe others could advise.
