Grohu
I'm just wondering. How long it takes you guys to model a single store, let's say 1500sq. ft. home and do you have any guidelines to speed up the process? For this example let's say you are using a CAD file with all bells and whistles that is super clean and layered ready to extrude.
Justin Hunt
anything from an hour to a month, it all depends on the detailing, views required and how pedantic you are in accuracy. jhv
oligophant
im keeping track second by second some of my currents works, once i finished those works i'll post it on here, i read somewhere that if you can't measure you can't manage it.
Nic H
in general i would say 1 day - 2 weeks.
3rddimension
How much detail is going into it? Is it interior or exterior? Is it to be populated fully? How many views are required? These are the basic questions you should be asking yourself in order to start working out a time frame and process. Nick
ihabkal
it also depends on how much the client changes his mind after he sees his design.
1d2d3d4d
"let's say you are using a CAD file with all bells and whistles that is super clean and layered ready to extrude." hahahahaha... At this point in time I say "3 days" for everything.. a day to model, a day to do lighting/materials/render, a day to do photoshop... I might add a day to clean up the drawing... but you never know what can happen...each model/site can be a new set of problems...
jinsley
...let's say you are using a CAD file with all bells and whistles that is super clean and layered ready to extrude. haha, I love this part too. In my experience I have NEVER had a CAD drawing that doesn't need a little bit of cleaning. No matter what the architect or technician says. depending on the level of detail you are expecting, just to model, I would also say 1 day to 2 weeks. Kanashimi
at least a day i would think
Stan Zaslavsky
as Ihab said - a lot depends on the client. you might have the model done in 3 hours - but then the client will be a pain and will make changes for the next 2 weeks of minor detail and will be pedantic to ensure that every change is represented. some clients might just be happy wiht the first render and will say - yep thats great - let's finalise it. i have found that the "client" is the biggest variable in any workflow good luck
Crazy Homeless Guy
If base model exists, and I am free to work on it... 2.5-3 days for full rendering, and entourage. If design reviews need to happen, and we need to work through specific elements need to be taken into consideration.... 4 days to 2 weeks depending on how specific elements need to be.
