section problem?

I am trying to cut through a wire display The 6mm wires I have created look fine until I cut a section through them.

Then they become diamond shapes instead of circular. Need some quick help on this one ... any ideas?

I think it is some kind of section resolution problem. The circle is displaying faceted. If i could some how increase the faceting for a smooth section circle thats what i am looking for I just dont know the setting.

I don't an answer for you sorry, but it seems that round extrusions display ok but sweeps and revolved objects display with straight edges.

This only happens in section and elevation. all ok in plan

It also appears to only happen to external families not in place ones.

I tried detail level and scale changes but it did not make any difference.

sorry I could not be more help.

I have spent the last couple of weeks creating a bunch of commercial kitchen families and now I realise many have this problem. Didn't even notice till now.

I tried making these several different ways. Including families and in place families. Extruded and swept they all have this problem in cross sections.

In elevations everything is fine.

Having thought about it just now I think I might know the solution.

Create a family and when it is looked at in section have the section view hide the geometry and have it display detail lines in bedded in the family.

This would be similar to in bedding detail line work in a section of a sliding door or window, except you would hide all modeled elements.

I am pretty sure this is the way to make it work. I dont have the time to test it right now. If anyone can verify this please let me know.

Thanks
