Glare effect in post?

Hey!

 

I am wondering if you can open already rendered image in Max and just add the glare effect (without having to render the whole thing again)?

 

The reason I ask is because glare appears to be added after the render is complete, so I am assuming it's calculated in post anyway?

I am using the default camera output shader (glare).

 

But I am having some problems with it. For example, if I only render a region of my camera view the glare works perfectly fine. But if I try to render the whole view, glare is extremely strong - basically the whole render becomes completely white.
