druwee
there are multiple reasons why an emitter would not glow in maxwell but the main reason would be scale! maxwell uses actual calculations of light and its distance3,power,watts,efficacy and all that mambo jambo, my suggestion is to either scale down your model or increase the emitters strength. but scaling down solved my problem when i was faced with a light bulb that was just grey in every render. try it and if it doesnt work we can help you try somnethign else. tomwpa
I've drawn my light bulb to scale it's about 70mm high, and i've tried increasing the strength of the emitter even to 700w and all i get is a light bulb with a really bright filament it just look white and doesn't make the bulb glow, however it still lights up a scene like a light bulb would. it just doesn't look like a light bulb lit up... any more suggestions would be appreciated greatly? fate0000
So did you make the filament an emitter and you're wondering why the casing around the filament doesn't glow? If that's the case, you'll have to check the material around the filament and make sure its not completely transparent and that it has an opaqueness to it so it absorbs some of the light being admitted from the filament. druwee
I was faced with that and all i did was change the units used in my modeling software (via the maxwell c4D plugin) frm cinema basic units to centemeterz, n wow it was glowing so much! So i even had to tone it down, all by just unit changes. il re-iterate. I (me) had a lamp/emitting geometry that was flat but emitting light yet not natural look as a source of light/glowing, and so changed the overall units and all was well (too well)
