antfraine
Hi all, I'm a Vray user but I've been playing around with Fryrender for a day or two, all seems to be going well in terms of understanding the software but I do have 1 problem... My host application is Max and I am having trouble mapping things like bump maps and reflection maps on my objects when using Fryrender materials, actually the problem is not mapping objects, it's viewing my maps whilst mapping With Vray and max you have the option to view all maps in viewport, whether it be a bump, refl, opacity map etc. I can view my diffuse (refl0) map inside max but nothing else as there is no option (at least I cant find one) to enable it or allocate it to a channel etc. At the minute I am able to specify a bump map in the Fry material but then it's pretty much up to Fryrender to place it on my object, I need to see my map when I am applying UVW's to my object Any help would be much appreciated Thanks
Fran
Hi Antony, What I do is place the bump map temporarily in the refl0 slot and do the positioning etc. that way. fryrender doesn't do multiple mapping channels, so if the bump map needs different tiling, rotation or offsetting, you need to do that in the fryrender bitmap UVW modifiers panel. If you modify the UVW mapping, drag your bump map back down to the bump slot to preserve the settings.
antfraine
Hi Fran, Thanks for the help, a very logical approach I will give this method a try and I'm sure Fryrender will become as comfortable as Max and Vray are to me in no time at all, the quality is superb in my opinion, much like Maxwell but far more user-friendly Thanks again, Antony
