"Store with IR Map" removing Vray Light reflections?

The object above has a large Vray Light in front of and behind it. When not "Storing with IR Map" the render comes out as expected with reflections of the vray lights in the objects (a vraymtl with a reflection layer). When I check "Store with IR Map" on the Vray Lights the reflections disappear, or rather only the first (?) bounce reflections show up with any intensity (see the bottom of the sphere).

 

This likely is an effect of the vray lights being treated as GI rather than direct light when "Store with IR Map" is checked. But Ive never seen a mention of this behavior before and was wondering if anyone knew of a workaround.
