Shader for Reel Smart Motion Blur, help needed.

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am working (for the first time) in Maya. I am loving it, but cant say I understand the fundamentals. I have scraped my way through, but I need to use Motion Blur and Reel Smart looks like my best option.

I can't figure out how to install the shader (http://www.alamaison.fr/3d/lm_2DMV/lm_2DMV_ref.htm). Does anyone know if there's an idiots guide somewhere? Im sure I followed the instructions right, but I dont know how to troubleshoot the problem (Im a Max guy). Im on Maya 2010 and W7(64bit).

Should the shader just show up in the materials? I dont see it.

How should the replacement code look here, I dont know what to cut or where to paste it in the code.....

- Add the following lines after similar declarations in the maya.rayrc file:

(The rayrc file is in the Maya/mentalray directory)

link "{MAYABASE}/lib/lm2DMV_v2.{DSO}"

mi "{MAYABASE}/include/lm2DMV_v2.mi"

Any help would be really appreciated. Im a bit scared of code.

With Maya 2010 you shouldn't have to edit the Maya.rayrc file anymore. Just make sure you placed all the files in their proper directories. If you already have it should work.

I am assuming you are looking under mental ray materials instead of Maya materials in the Hypershade. If not make sure you change it to Mental Ray Materials.
