Josh1587140445
I have been doing some renderings with alot of civil work to them with VIZ 4. And some of these sites have alot of change in the topography. But I need to add roads that follow the topography. I just can't seem to get my road profile to merge with the terrian created. Any suggestions on how this can be accomplished
samp
Euh ... Maybe you could copy the terrain. Make a spline that has the form of your routenet. And cut that form out of your terraincopy with "compound objects - shapemerge"

quizzy
its more like a shape projector on a surface, with shapemerge you don't get a shape.
Wolf
If you are serious about it, you need to get world construction kit it has special tools that do just that. go here... http://www.3dnature.com/
Jefferson Grigsby
The easy "sledhammer Approach" would be to draw the bounding shape of the road, extrude it, Boolean subtract it from the terrain mesh (suggest you collapse both before doing this). Take copies of both and do the same with an itersection Boolean for the actual road surface. Hope that helped some.
Da_RoCk
Hi peeps. I think that the glue tool really works. It seems that it will align your road in respect to plan directly to the terrain. but if ur planning to apply cut and fill with your road alignment, better make the model first... seismograph
www.pracsys.hu few years ago i watched a presentation of thier archisite software, which seamless was integrated to archicad. Everything was semiautomated. Drawing points with a height..archisite created the terrain; drawing a spline over this terrain ..and archisite draw the streets and slopes!! so easy!! Richard McCarthy
or You could use Revit... Integrated Site modeler that's super easy to use. Import your 3D terrain data from AutoCAD, Press a button, BAM! instant 3D terrain It also let you grade the site, and also put in all sorts of goodies (parking space, trees, lights, etc) into it with full intelligence of standing up right and above the terrain. -RM

pidge
I agree that the glue tool from itoosoftware works the best but remember when you create your line turn up the interupation to about 22,but the one thing that i found was that the glue tool doesn't let you align your road maps after you apply it,not like the lofting tool, this is a problem i always get,if someone knows how it fix this prob life would be so much easier for me. Troy
Easy Site is pretty good. Lately i've just been doing it all in Max with teh terrain tool and shapemerging splines. Lofting can be very powerful for making roads, curbs, and sidewalks all at once with the mat IDs assigned at the spline level.
