Follow Up With Intel 980x

It has been 10 days since we put this chip on the old motherboard.

 

The computer has the following:

 

Motherboard Rampage II Extreme

Intel I 7 980x with Master Cooler V8 chip cooler

12 gb of RAM

Two Barracuddas XT 6gbs transfer speed with 64mb buffer

Raid 0 with SIIG Controller Card

Gamer Video Card Radeon 4870 x2

1000 Power Supply

 

This is a 1 year old configuration, the only thing we did was to drop a new CPU and

overclock it a little bit. This is the fastest machine we have ever had. The old I7 was hanging, we could never figured out what was causing the hangup, perhaps the hardrives?

 

The new AutoCAD 2011 MEP and the 3ds Max 2011 are simply flying. It is realy fast with all the programs. I am putting another one together for the other station we have. We are thinking of changing the Video Card but have no justification for this since the unit is very fast.
