Matt Sugden
Is there an easy way of copying a UVW map which is a applied and collapsed to an object, so I can apply it to a different object and the UVW maps match exactly? I have a plane object with a google map image UVW mapped on, which took some time to line up. I need to apply this same text to the roofs of some extruded buidlings, and the texture has to line up with the UVW map from the plane.
cupsster
Try to look to tools > Channel info or don't be lazy and do a quick search on http://www.scriptspot.com You can use Channel info if objects are identical otherwise try to use UVW map and in mapping look for button acquire.. then experiment with relative or absolute.. Stephen Thomas
You can copy and paste modifiers from the stack of one object to another just by selecting and right-clicking. However the best way to do what you're looking for here is to apply a UVW map to the new object, then choose Acquire, click on the original object and choose 'absolute' from the pop-up options. Obviously you need to make sure that the ID channel is the same for both UVW maps.
Matt Sugden
Hi, thanks I know about copying and pasting modifers but as I mentioned I have a collapsed poly aleady. I'm trying the aquire method but once aquired is selected nothing happens when I click other objects regardless of ID?!?!?
Matt Sugden
Right I have just tried you're method again, and I understand now, this is of no use to me, as it only works if you copy a stacked UVW, what I need is a way of getting the UVW of an exisiting object, which has no active modifier data. Stephen Thomas
Ah right, sorry I missed the part about the stack being collapsed and you no longer having the UVW map. In that case acquire won't work.
