Dave Buckley
not a clue what is happening here? please seeimage attached, it's an editable mesh with an edit poly modifier on top and i'm trying to chamfer an edge i need the edit poly modifer so that i can make the chamfer looked curved, unless i can do this with edit mesh? or any other suggestions, round corners in the a&d is not an option as i need multiple edges on the same object with varying fillets/chamfers
Dave Buckley
i can delete the poly's on the side and then recap it using the border sub-object mode, but every time i chamfer another edge, it does the same thing.
DanGrover
How about if you weld vertices with a small area before chamfering?
Dave Buckley
i tried that, perhaps i should increse the threshold more. i am doing it another way know, i've remodelled it from splines in max, much easier and quicker than me trying to solve that problem
Koper
there is no real info between the curve and the outside corner. just cut from one of the vertexes in the curve to the outside top corner and it should be fine

Claudio Branch
If you can't get it to work with welding the verts, then just recreate the section, Extrude, add Edit Poly and use Chamfer for all the edges.
Dave Buckley
Cheers claudio, that's what I did in the end. I'm working with illustrator files which isn't helpin. I've remodelled everything
Peter M. Gruhn
Maybe just try a retriangulate on the sides.
DelfoZ
some times what i do to fix that kind of issues ( if the profile is a little complex ) ill go to Create > shapes > Section and make a Section from the geometry. if that don´t help then i redreaw the shape .. clauco
Hey! Peter is right! Just try conecting the vertex of the concave polygons with the oposite vertex at the top, do that on both concave side polygons of the geometry. The only thing you need is to retriangulate the geometry! But chamfering edges looks better and your problems is solved.
