Glossy Refs and VrayLightMtl problems

Hello,

Thanks for any bit of advice.

 

Can somebody tell me what is wrong with those reflections?

 

This is rendered under LWF, so after final render a 2.2 - 2.34 gamma is applied in the third party software (not in framebuffer).

 

What happens with glossy reflections from VrayLight Mtl is not acceptable for production (see pic below).

 

Pulling my hair out, trying to get most of light in the interiors but those paches get bigger as futher away from source. Sometimes I get random patch on whiter shade size of 20mm (in real size).

 

This only affects glossy mtl when reflecting VrayLightMtl, 2 shown on the picture.

Third light in the back is a IES web, just to illustrate that noise levels of the rest of an image.

Solved.

 

Material has nothig to do with it,

just put

DMC or QMC
Min:1
Max:24 is ok, but 36- was smooth, 50- not worth time;
Clr tresh:0.0005;

Natraveli seems little bit faster, but not sure.

 

I was hoping it can be fixed without extending render time.

I agree with sunglare about the dmc settings, that'll smooth out your glossiness loads, but will increase your render times.

 

you're goona get clumping in your shadows when you render in G1 and then change to G2.2 after. it's because you're stretching out the colours.

 

trick here (if you really really need to do that) is to tick the "dont affect colours, adaptation only" in the colour mapping rollout, but you MUST put in G2.2 in the colour mapping gamma, do not leave at 1.

the colours will be the same on output as on your G1 render but you'll have more detail in the shadows.

 

also, ensure that you are playing with a 16/32 bit image, definately dont try that with an 8bit image. it's not worth the tears.
