bluediablito
Hello all. i am currently working on my final project of this semester and i was wondering. How to go about modeling a building skin? i normally do the modeling in rhino with grasshopper and then import it to 3d max, but this time i would like to do everything in 3d max. do any one know how would i grab an object and have it flow on the model surface? in rhino there is a command that its called FlowAlongSrf. this command allows you to draw/extrude any object and then have it flow along the top of the surface (in the bottom) these are my images of my model any suggestion will be appreciated. thank you in advance
Peter M. Gruhn
Conform may help a bit. I haven't managed to use it well yet. Maybe that's just me. See also http://designreform.net/
Nils Norgren
The closest thing in max is "Patch Follow". I would do a test, you need a patch grid, and then a an object with plenty of tessellation (remember max is primarily a Poly modeling program, unlike Rhino) apply the modifier, use the world space version, which will move the object to the location of the patch. The other way would be to use world space bends, ffd boxes, etc to get the right combination of turns and bends. Hope this helps, -Nils
