hi dreamer,

generally there are some sites with all kinds of stuff, like

http://www.3dcafe.com/asp/meshes.asp

or

http://www.turbosquid.com/

but quite often with not really modern furniture

two other sites I can highly recommend are

http://www.smoke3dstudio.com/

(site of another cg artist with free models)

and

http://www.e-interiors.net

which lists all kind of producer-related content, often with additional .jpgs of alternative surfaces ...

just check it ...

hope to have helped

Regards

Steffen

Hi everyone, this is my first post.

Anyway, I was wondering if any of you have seen where I can get a 3D model of a Bertoia Diamond Lounge chair.

Thanks.

Hi all,

I'm looking for a cheap/free model of the butterfly chair (1938) designed by Bonet, Kurchan & Ferrari Hardoy.

http://www.kit3dmodels.com/lounge1.htm (bottom left)

The model on www.kit3dmodels.com don't seem to well modelled for the price of € 15.00

There is an offer of 5 for € 10., but as I only need one, it is not an option for me.

Where can I find it?

tnx

How long did it take you to find the model, think about it and then post this message--and what is your time billed at? My point is that you have the model you want available at E10 (about 10 buck, American). If your time were billed at $100/hr, it takes only six minutes of wasted time to cover the cost of the model. You will spend more than an additional six to twelve minutes searching for a free version of the chair. If the model were E50 I can see it being worth the time to search, but not for such a small cost. Could you model it yourself any better in half an hour?

Hi Ernest,

I understand your way of thinking very well Ernest, as we think the same. (Although rates vary since we have modellers doing those things)

The only reason I 'searched' for the model is because I've seen it around on one of the links posted here. So it didn't take me long... just ran a search on most furniture sites, and went to the next as soon as no results were found.

As soon as I didn't find anything, I posted the question so I could stop searching and perhaps do have a model in the end :ppp

It might sound cruel, but we all help each other this way ;)

My biggest concern is not the price but the quality: i don't like the model detail provided.

So I'm just asking and not trying to lose to much time ;)

It looks like you must have autoCAD, but there's probably a way around it. I just ordered the CD, $10, and it might be more forgiving than the download for types of files.

I just wanted to say that I received the http://www.3dvim.com model collection and it's great! There are some weird things, to say the least, but 1000 models for $100 bucks (well, $165 with some crazy shipping deal) is a great deal. The alternative was to model the things and then let my client change his mind, or buy from Turbo Squid @ $50 per model).

The models and materials are first rate, imo.

I just hope I don't start seeing these models for sale on TS like so many of the other ones (like the Herman Miller, etc., that someone is making good cash off of).
