Active cube and Immersive 3D

Long time lurker and no time poster.

 

I have worked in the arch viz industry for a number of years, but have recently left the industry and started working for the University of Northampton, in the UK.

 

the UoN have recently spent about £3 million on a number of active stereocopic HD powerwalls (6m x 3m4m and 3.8 x 2.4) and a five sided active cube (a CAVE system, although that's trademarked,) with the intention of helping SMEs in the East Midlands in particular, but also across the UK/Europe in general. As far as we are aware, it is the only facililty of its type open to public hire in Europe.

 

We also have a 512-core SGI cluster, which could be turned into a very nice little render farm, but we need public interest before this will happen (a little stupid, but there we are). I suppose the point is, if there are any CG professionals out there who would be interested in coming down and taking a look, then let me know. It's there to be used, basically, and the rates we are charging for the kit that we have are very competitive. If you have any ideas about what you could want to do, or questions then let me know. I don't make any money out if it, I just wanted to open it up to the industry that I used to work in, and hopefully help anybody if they are looking in that direction.
