luiselmau
Hi Guys this is my first post here. I'm doing one interior scene and I need to render a lamp, I need the most real light possible, I tried de vraylightmaterial but that don't cast shadow so I don't think it will work. I'm trying to use the vrayIES or the photometric light but the result it isn't good. Can someone show me a good tutorial to render a lamp that illuminate a room? thank you very much and sorry my English. Luis Severo
aaronrumple
IES is the correct approach. I would guess it has more to do with your exposure and color mapping than the USE of IES lights. A preview of where you are would be helpful.
luiselmau
if i understand you, the vrayIES is the best aproch and i must use a vray camera for the render. The units of the scene are important for this? where can i find ies files? thank you.
luiselmau
other thing. i have a chandelier modelled whit lamps. Can i mapped the lamps whit glass and put a vrayIES light in the interior of the lamp? is this the best way? and then change the exposure ant the colour mapping. thank you very much one more time. aaronrumple
Search here fro IES. You'll find plenty of links to IES files. Yes, you can put a light inside the lamp geometry. The materials settings will be critical in making it looking correct.
Ricardo Eloy
If you have the fixtures modeled, you can use a VRayLight Mesh, adding the bulb model as a mesh to it. You should get pretty decent results.
luiselmau
sorry rick but I'm a beginner. what is a vraylight mess? is a vray light? how can I add the bomb to it?
Ricardo Eloy
Alright, Vray 1.5 SP4a has the option to turn a mesh into a light. You create a normal VRayLight, select the mesh option and then pick mesh. The geometry you chose will act as a real VRayLight, casting photons and everything a VRayLight does (including its quality). aristocratic3d
Thats really an excellent addition here. I liked its occlusion render option too.
