What does What

So, this being my first attempt at picking a computer for a very specific purpose, I as wondering if anyone could give me a rundown on what components are used for certain parts of Max. I know the CPU is mainly used for rendering so from a rendering standpoint, the faster the better but what about the other components? Again, specific to max only, how important is a powerful video card and why (examples would be great) and hard drive speed and size, monitors and mouse? I know it a big topic but I nearly bought a gaming machine only to find out that it had fast/powerful components that max doesn’t utilize. By the way, this forum has saved me allot of pain and headaches so thanks to everyone who replied, it’s helped me allot.
